“Marriage, ultimately, is the practice of
becoming passionate friends.”
– Harville Hendrix, Ph.D
– founder of Imago Relationship Therapy.

When we come into marriage we have a lot of ideas about how it is supposed to work. But we also bring a whole lot of our childhood baggage. We learn how to argue, how to interpret information (or threats), how to become defensive, and how a household should run as a child. This tends to bring in a us (child) vs. them (parent) fighting style to our marriage. Our goal is to uncover the ugly parts of our defenses and learn to grow (argue) as a team with the same goal.
