She, Her, Hers

” Let everything happen to you
Beauty and terror
Just keep going
No feeling is final”
-Rainer Maria Rilke

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who graduated with a certificate in gender, sexuality, and women’s studies. My specialty is working with and supporting people during pregnancy, child birth, and parenting. I have worked with families in a hospital setting as a healthcare professional, as well as a birth doula. From professional and personal experiences, I recognize that these experiences are deeply vulnerable and can lead to feeling isolated. I believe therapy can provide much needed support and empathy to help find a deeper understanding of yourself as you build on your inner strength.

Who I support –
Perinatal Mental Health and adjustment: Anxiety and depression, OCD, and PTSD among other diagnosis can make processing and adjusting difficult. I will create a safe space for you to explore and reflect on these experiences and find helpful ways to develop skills to cope and thrive in your life.

Traumatic birth/unexpected complications: Many birth experiences trigger women as their experience is primarily out of their control. The deep vulnerability of birth and the degree to which you felt supported in that time can have lasting affects on the postpartum period and beyond. I aim to help you process your experience in a supportive environment to bring healing.

Parenting/Relationships: Navigating parenting and partnership is an on going challenge, in which we are constantly evolving. There are many ups and down to figuring how to meet the needs of your children, significant others, and most importantly, yourself. Communication and self-advocating can be hard and lead to feeling exhausted, insecure, guilty, or disappointed in your roles as a parent, partner, and person. I aim to help you explore these feelings and help you find ways to more effectively and healthily face life’s challenges.

How I help:
I believe that empathy, compassion, and connection can bring deep healing to our lived experiences. I aim to build a supportive connection in collaboration with you, as you strive to navigate the experiences that are distressing or overwhelming. I pull from a strengths perspective, feminist theories, holistic approaches, and the intersection of the full depth of one’s identity contributing to the therapeutic experience.
