Clinical Mental Health Therapist
She, Her, Hers
“When I dare to be powerful, to use my strength in the service of my vision, then it becomes less and less important whether I am afraid” -Audre Lorde
About Me:
I am a daughter, sister, aunt, and friend who believes in the power of holistic healing. I am honored to support individuals, small groups, and families begin their journey through the path of mental health therapy. I am a mental health therapist completing my requirements for a PA state license as a professional counselor, along with pursuing an endorsement as an Infant Mental Health Specialist and Certified Birth & Postpartum Doula through DONA International. I am also a Certified Lactation Counselor.
Who I work with:
Families experiencing perinatal transitions: Whether you are in the process of conceiving, a blended family with an infant(s), or not having the experience you imagined I provide a safe space for clients to reflect, plan, and take action on these important matters.
Understanding and navigating relationships: Who we are connected with has an impact on our lives be it partners, family members, colleagues, and friends. I assist with the reflection and processing of these relationships and how they impact one’s life.
Life Transitions for women and children of color: As a black woman I understand the trials of being a member of more than one world. I provide support for women of color and mothers of children of color to navigate the multitudes of intersections to have the opportunity to thrive.
How I help:
I believe it is important for me to provide therapeutic services that create a space for clients to learn, grow and take action. It begins with a focus on building trust through the practices of patience, listening, and respect. Modeling is a tool I often use to demonstrate the importance of validation, mindfulness (being present/in the moment), and professionalism. Lastly, this all comes together so that clients can be challenged in a safe and supportive environment that allows them to reach the level of vulnerability and accountability it takes to create change.
As a Black woman, I also have an interest in supporting other Black and minority women. I love and respect the collective conscious regarding culture and experiences while providing a professional lens that focuses on health, equity, and healing.
More about me:
I am a Pittsburgh, PA native who takes pride in where I am from while recognizing the changes and struggles around me. I support local groups and organizations in the form of direct work, education, and advocacy to combat systemic oppression and individual battles. I believe that in order to make change in our world we must first begin with how individuals are ushered into this world; I plan to use my experiences and certification as a birth & postpartum doula through DONA International and certified lactation counselor with a mental health lens to make an impact.
